For this practicum/ internship I was placed in a Kindergarten classroom at Herons Crossing School (#noapostrophe) in Airdrie, AB. I am beyond grateful for this practicum experience and all of the learning that I was able to do with the support of my Mentor Teacher, Admin, and University Consultant.
This PSIII looked a little bit different than the traditional internship as a result of an incomplete PSII in March 2020 due to the shutdown of schools. For the first four weeks (January) I completed my PSII duties and responsibilities and prepared for the PSIII transition for the last 12 weeks (February- April). During this time I was able to build strong relationships with students and gain an understanding of the workings of a half-day Kindergarten program. Upon transition to PSIII duties I took full responsibility of the AM class, which meant I was able to lead arrival, dismissal and everything in between!
I am so grateful for all of the connections I was able to make with students, families and staff at HCS over the past weeks. The learning that has occurred has allowed for me to achieve my practicum goals and flourish in other areas that I had initially struggled, such as assessment.

I started this practicum as a student teacher, and I am leaving as Miss. Hoisington, a teacher!
