This course was probably one of the most helpful and rewarding classes I have taken! Through the semester we focused on many aspects of supporting students with Emotional Behavioural Disorders (EBD) as well as the ways in which we can positively approach behavioural problems in the classroom. We covered a wide variety of topics, from learning about the basics of EBDs, to more specific examples, we also discussed trauma and the impact on behaviour, as well as countless strategies to support students using a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) model. We spent some time focusing on data collection, writing behaviour plans, communication strategies, and school response teams, among others. This course had three major assignments- the first was deliberation and reflections which happened with peers and individually, we also completed a deep dive paper to look at a specific behaviour and a school wide approach that could support it, and finally we joined forces with peers to create a collaborative project that focused on an intervention strategy and an EBD that it would support through a team approach.
