As a new teacher, and a future educator, personal and professional development is so important. It allows you to learn new things about yourself and your students, as well as providing opportunities for self-reflection. As a teacher, you commit yourself to life long learning, and constantly improving your practices. As a future teacher, I have had the opportunity to take EDUC 2500, and partake in a couple of presentations and teaching opportunities such as a micro-teaching lesson, and a contemporary educational issues presentation in seminar. I have also been given the opportunity to plan a complete art lesson, and lead the class in a reading of Charlotte's Web. These lessons have given me great opportunities to develop some basic teaching skills.
I have been given the opportunity to do many more things to develop my professional skills as a teacher in my EDUC 2500 practicum placement. The ones I have mentioned above are just the three major lessons that I have examples from.
