Through this course I was able to gain a deeper, and more meaningful understanding of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and the ways in which the guidelines and checkpoints work to support learner differences in the classroom. Through this course we explored various topics including inclusive education, brain basics for learning, the framework of UDL practices (and each principle: Engagement, Representation, Action & Expression), differentiation, planning and assessment, to name a few. Within this course we were given the opportunity to write reflections on each section of content, which were shaped around the 3 principles of UDL; we were also asked to take a traditional lesson plan found on the internet and create a UDL plan to improve it, as well as creating a UDL toolkit with a new strategy/resource that aligns with each principle. I am really looking forward to using this learning to ensure I become more intentional when considering learner differences in my planning. Please see below for these assignments!
